We’re celebrating 12 Days of Ava’Merry Christmas at Avamere at Sherwood! Here’s how we’ve been celebrating each day this holiday season.
Dec. 12: Dress Like an Elf Day
We served up hot sugary pancakes in honor of Buddy the elf and of course we had the movie Elf playing in the background.
Dec. 13: Silly Socks
We had an indoor snowball fight for all the employees and any residents who wanted to join. While in the middle of a snowball fight, we gave them each a pair of silly Christmas socks (thrown like a snowball) to keep as a gift. We definitely worked off the pancakes from the day before!
Dec. 14: Old Timey Christmas Day
This included Ava’Merry Dickens of a Christmas Candlelight Dinner for all our lovely residents. We dressed as characters from A Christmas Carol and had a jolly good Christmas dinner. Seth served prime rib, Brussel sprouts, and twice baked potatoes all while dressed in a top hat and tails! Karissa was Ghost of Christmas Present, and Megan Kerekes was Ghost of Christmas Past (although residents kept calling her an angel which she didn’t mind either).
Dec. 15: Who is in Whoville
We donned crazy hair and Christmas colors, with lots of fun and hairspray! Megan made the employees a Grinch word scramble that they could fill out and earn a prize and made everyone Grinch cupcakes.
Dec. 16: Ugly Sweater Day
On Friday we held Ugly Sweater Day as part of our 12 Days of Ava’Merry Christmas! We also had our employee Christmas party including a gift as a thank-you for their hard work and silent auction. Employees had raffle tickets for participating in the week’s fun to earn gifts donated by management. We enjoyed games, including a gift game and party games. One of our team members, Seth, made a pasta bar and peanut butter rice krispies. Check out some of our ugly sweater photos and party fun!
